My Major Problem…… :v/

by Greg Coffos on Sep.16, 2009, under Blogs

So I am currently in the Navy, haven’t mentioned that in my posts I don’t believe. Anyways; I will be getting out here in the next couple months and start attending school to get my degree, or hopefully degrees. I am positive about one field I would like to follow and that is Kinesiology because I am just really in to being physically active and would like to know all there is to know about why our bodies work the way they work from an athletes point of view. Now the problem here is that I know there wont be many opportunities in this field past personal training or possibly physical therapy, if I were to get a Masters in it, but I don’t feel like going to school for 6 or 7 years so that is out of the question. I have quite a few credits as it is so I figure i can cram a couple bachelors into a 4 years span.  So I have been looking into nursing cause its a very in demand occupation at the moment. I was also looking at maybe being a dental hygienist as well, I really think I would be interested in anything like this, but the problem with these is it’s not music. I love music and want to major in music, but I know it’s such a hard field to get into and succeed, but it’s what I love and want to do. I am so lost on what I should do? I mean should I go with what would be practical and I could possibly enjoy, but will be good for my future or go for the unknown, but will definitely make me happy? This is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever had to decide………….. what a dilemma

+New Songs+

by Greg Coffos on Sep.15, 2009, under Blogs

My song writing has been out of control as of late. They are just flowing out of me like air, it’s absolutely amazing. The juices are definitely flowing. The funny thing about the whole process is that they are all based around the same chord structure, but sound completely different. I don’t know how I’m doing it, but damn it’s been a while since I’ve been truly happy with my music. I can’t wait to go record this and I am praying that the studio will be able to fill out my songs a little more and add what they need to really be great. Producers are retarded though and if they try and change my style then game on………..

Weekend Whoas and friendship dilemmas

by Greg Coffos on Sep.14, 2009, under Blogs

I had a pretty horrible weekend. Very very slow. Didn’t do much of anything. I feel like my life is beginning to rut which makes me that much more excited to get home where I belong with people that really understand me. I’ve met so many fake people up here it’s ridiculous. (I have met a few cool people that I will most likely keep in contact with however) but back to the fakers….. I start initially by saying this is mainly a female problem i’ve come across.  Not to say that alot of males aren’t the same, but in all honesty I think the female gender lacks the friend making abilities that guys have. For example… myself; I have I think around 20 or 30 friends that I have known since I was between the ages of 6-9 years old and 6 or 7 of them I can honestly say I feel are family. I would take a bullet any given day for them. I look at my female counterparts and always find they just don’t have the same connections with their friends, and don’t seem to interested in finding that type of bond for that matter. Now this leads me to think the commitment that comes with a friendship is treated the same as the commitment in a serious relationship in the eyes of the woman. Which complicates things because if they aren’t that interested in hanging out with you in all aspects then the relationship dwindles because they just seem to channel all their time and energy into the person they connect with the most. This leaves no time to develop stronger relationships with their other friends. I’m not bad mouthing women in any way it’s just something I feel i’ve noticed. If i’m wrong then please disregard this, just speaking my mind a bit as I’ve noticed this with a friend of mine lately.

Long weekend for labor day…

by Greg Coffos on Sep.07, 2009, under Blogs

This weekend went very unexpectedly. On long weekends I normally have something planned out and ready to go, this much was not true for this weekend however. Initially I had planned on going camping, but all of that went out the window when my buddies flaked because they didn’t want to drive a couple hours. Instead i got stuck in good ol Lemoore, Ca. It started out decent though. I went up to my friend Randee’s place to hangout on Saturday, the Fresno St. V UC Davis football game was happening that night as well and he lives in the student apartments so you can only imagine the craziness that ensued after they smashed UC davis by like 50 some odd points. This was the first night I had really drank in such a long time, I downed alot of Vodka(my drink of choice lol) and wow. It was a ton of fun though and I was at our new friend Sydney’s apartment partying with a ton of people I didn’t even know. I loved it. Haven’t done that in a really long time so I went all out. Everyone else went back to Randee’s early, but I stayed over at her place till like 4am havin fun. Great night all in all. Past Saturday though I didn’t do much. i saw a couple movies with friends,a nd wrote alot of music; which I’m very happy about. I guess it’s cool though considering I have been doing big events every weekend pretty much since I got home. Can’t complain about a chill weekend. Hopefully I will be hitting up Disneyland soon, but we’ll see how that all turns out. Well that’s my weekend, nothing special, but nothing bad.

New Songs!!!

by Greg Coffos on Sep.05, 2009, under Blogs

Last night was a great night for my song writing…. I wrote two songs at three  in the morning. I have had such bad writers block lately, and then all of a sudden two songs just pop out and flow like they were there the whole time. I love when that happens; hopefully I can get a couple more today, I just want a nice ten song set so I can start playing shows and have alot of options of what to play. I will post the words up soon in my music section; let me know what you think.

—Wicked—

by Greg Coffos on Sep.03, 2009, under Blogs

Ok so I am way over due for this post. “Wicked”………… What an amazing play this was. I went into this play expecting something good and came out having seen something great. The story sends you so much deeper into the Wizard of Oz; giving you the origins of all the characters from the original and really explaining everything in full. I loved how much better it made everything. From start to finish it brought into light, explanations and surprises that I would have never even imagined until now.  All the characters were so full of life personality and the way you get to see them in this play really has you a bit shocked. My favorite character from the entire play though was easily Elphaba( The “wicked” witch of the west). The whole story line is based around this character and you learn so much about her it really helps you understand how everything came to be the way it is. I wont go into because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who might want to go see it.  Natalie Daradich played Elphaba and I swear to you I got goosebumps every time she opened her mouth. She has an amazing voice and was so full and energetic in her acting. She really did such a good job and the funny thing was she was the stand by…. I am very happy she got to play the night I went; she made the play what it was. There was so much more to the play, but I feel like I shouldn’t really give anything away. All I will say is go see it and enjoy like I know you will.

SanFransisco and the great indoors!!!

by Greg Coffos on Aug.30, 2009, under Blogs

So I just spent a great weekend in San Fransisco with an amazing girl and had such an awesome time. I don’t think this weekend could have been much better. On Friday we left Lemoore and got to S.F. around one pm, got checked in, and then headed straight to the Outside Lands Music festival. Ok so this was the first time I had ever been to a festival of this nature. predominately indy music, with a real calm and cool feel to the whole situation. Not once did I think something crazy was going to go down there; I just felt good vibes in the air. Some strange people, but everyone was just there to have a good time. No fights, no stupid drunks(that I seen anyway), nothing…. just good music and happiness. My favorite performance of the day was easily won by Blind Pilot…. this band is amazing with such a relaxing sound, but upbeat enough to make you move and want to sing right along with them. Their sounds was smooth and I couldn’t take my eyes off for too long. Anyway, like I said amazing though I recommend fully. I saw some other great bands there as well that day, Thievery Corporation, and Incubus(which I’m not a big fan of, but it was an ok show). That night when the festival had ended we walked forever looking for a cab, I kid you not they were impossible to find or even get a hold of; It took us probably a good two hours till we actually got one, then we went home where I thought I would be sleeping on the floor of the hotel that night. Honestly I was a little distraught when i thought that would be happening I was about to just sleep in my car, but luckily Janey(not sure if that’s how you spell her name) ended up sleeping with Blanca(the other and last girl that went) so I got to sleep with Michelle in the other bed.

Saturday we all got up and took our showers then headed over to IHOP for some breakfast, pretty good, but they put cheesecake on the pancakes?Who does that? After that we got on our city tour bus and went on a double decker view of the whole city. It was a cool little tour, a bit cold at times, but very good. Haight street is an awesome place with a very strong hippy feel to it. I enjoyed the tour alot because I seen things I forgot about from last time I was there. After the tour ended Michelle, Blanca, and I decided we wanted to go see a movie(Janey wanted to go cougar it up somewhere). We originally planned on seeing Inglorious Bastards, but as we were driving we passed the Orpheum theater, and it had a big poster for the play Wicked in front. Michelle went on her phone and started looking to see when it was playing and it just so happened it started at eight pm that night, and seeing as how we missed the start of the movie we just all figured lets go see Wicked. I had been wanting to see it for a while, and Michelle as well. We tried calling, but it was a no go. Then we saw a scalper in front of the theater and he said come talk to him so we just were like, ” let’s see what he has to say”. We went and parked, but when we got to the theater we went to the box office before the scalper and they had 3 tickets available for $50 a piece…. so exciting when I heard the price, they were supposed to be limited view seats, but when we actually got to them they were pretty damn good. Saw the whole thing pretty perfectly. I will be writing a whole other blog on the play itself because I think I will have a lot to say when I do. Here I will say it was amazing though, I loved it. I felt bad for Michelle because she was so tired and didn’t miss much, but nodded of for a minute here and there and it made me a little sad, but we made it through and yeah. After that we went back to the hotel and pretty much just passed out, talked a little, but not too long.

This morning we got up and went to IHOP again, then afterward just headed home. The drive went by fast for me, everyone feel asleep, but Michelle woke up the last 30-45 minutes or so and we just talked. I feel like it was all about me in the exchanges though and yeah, but it was nice just getting to talk to here for a while without anyone really cutting in. We got back to Lemoore around 4pm or so. Everyone’s cars were at Michelle’s so we all went there, That was the end of my great weekend and even though the last few minutes weren’t the best all in all I had a great time and hope something like it will happen again soon.
